Want to know how to kill your traffic? STOP BLOGGING. That is my answer. If you have better things to do, stop reading, and go get another coffee.
If you haven’t noticed, this blog lately has been a little bit of a ghost town. Posts are few and far between, for a variety of reasons. A crazy year, being busy with pixel pushing, and lack of motivation for blogging have all contributed. Let’s all agree – blogging is a full time job in itself, or at least a solid part-time one. I honestly don’t feel like blogging anymore. I’m burnt out from it, and I’m tired of having to think of new and interesting blog posts. Writing is a fun creative outlet, but I have to really be in the mood for it. Apparently I am in the mood for it today, with this minimally informative post.
Blogs are SO valuable to a website’s traffic. We all know that. I’m no SEO or web dev expert, by any means. There have been major changes within the last year that Google has made, which has affected the traffic and search rank of many websites. I couldn’t tell you what those changes were, nor do I care to start learning about it. All I can share is what I can conclude from my own website’s traffic stats. Our traffic has literally sunk by 66% in unique views, within the last year. At least I know why, or partly why. Lack of blogging. While I’ve been continually uploading fresh stock images to ArenaCreative.com, WordPress blogs really are what seem to grab the attention of almighty Google’s crawler bots.
The upcoming winter season and being stuck indoors more will definitely allow me more time for blogging about industry-related topics. I’m not promising anything super-ground-breaking, but I will try and update this blog more frequently with brief posts. I do apologize for the lack of activity here. If you want to yell at me, please feel free to do so in the comments section below.
